CHAUTAUQUA

During the late 19th and during the early 20th centuries a popular event called the "Chautauqua" was held annually. It was an educational affair having lectures, concerts and various other educational entertainment.

It was one of the most popular events in the community of Lexington for many years but with the invention of radio it began to lose its popularity and soon disappeared from the scene.
