EASTERN STAR*
As a result of twenty-seven persons petitioning the Indiana Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star for a chapter in Lexington, on November 8, 1921 Edward W Barrows, Deputy Grand Patron, with the assistance of Scottsburg Chapter No. 107, instituted the Lexington Chapter.
Sister Susie M. Davis, P. G. M. of Scottsburg Chapter constituted Lexington Chapter No. 468 and installed its officers on May 18, 1922. Its first Worthy Matron was Myra M. Green and the Worthy Patron was Floyd G. Robbins. There were 22 charter members.
Meetings were held the first Wednesday of each month in the Lodge Hall over the James Store until it burned on March 19, 1941. They then met in various places including the Scottsburg Masonic Temple, Marysville Odd Fellows Hall and the third floor of the Lexington High School. On November 5, 1941 the Lodge moved to the second floor of the V. I. Hardy store and met there until the new lodge Hall was purchased. The first meeting in this facility was held on March 27, 1942. The building was dedicated on July 11, 1942 and was used until the Masons built a new temple one half block off the square on State Road 356. The first meeting in this building was held on September 7, 1966.
The Lexington chapter is still a busy and active group, meeting regularly once a month and has 119 members.
