THE LEXINGTON GUN CLUB
According to the LEXINGTON IMPLEMENT NEWS of April, 1887 (published by F. M. Campbell), a gun club existed in the community and was active throughout Southern Indiana:
The Lexington Gun Club is prospering, and the boys are not afraid to meet the crack shots of any club in Southern Indiana, with hunt for game or at target.
The armory of the club contains two Parker and two Williams breech-loading shot guns, two 32-caliber repeating Winchester rifles, one 32-caliber Ballard and one 32-caliber Stevens rifle. The boys shoot 100 yards off-hand.
Charlie Montgomery, Chick Marden (Daniel Boone) ,and Dee Montgomery (Davie Crocket) are the battery, the crack shots.
Members lost interest in the club and for many years it was inactive. However, in 1972 the club was revived once again.
