ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION OF THE LEXINGTON HORSE THIEF DETECTIVE ASSOCIATION

Be it known that on this 20 day of October 1902 these citizens of the County of Scott, State of Indiana, under provisions of an act of the General Assembly of said State on April 14, 1866, and all acts amending thereto (see Sections 4491 and 4492-4493, 4494-4495 of Burns Revised Statutes of 1901), ; do hereby form ourselves into an association under the name of the Lexington Horse Thief Detective Association for the purpose of detecting and arresting horse thieves, counterfeiters, incendiaries and all other felons and bringing them to Justice, to aid each other in the recovery of stolen property and for our mutual protection and indemnity against such thieves and felons. as provided in said acts and amendments, and in the manner particularly set out in the constitution and by laws of this association; and agree that this association shall exist for the period of fifty years unless sooner dissolved by a vote of the majority of the members.

THE LEXINGTON HORSE THIEF DETECTIVE ASSOCIATION

December 9, 1893

The Lexington Horse Thief Detective Association met at 2 p. m. in Hardie's Hail with President James Shea in the Chair. Doorkeeper George Jennings took up the pass word. The minutes of the September meeting read, and approved as read. Committee M. L. Hart and Pat Storen made report of Ex. Secretarians, Books discharged. Said report in full on file. Committee find amount due from Ex. Sec. to be satisfactory. James Shea -- $l.00; from Dr. L. H. Smith -- $3.0O.

By motion and carried members are to pay from January 1 1894, 10 cents quarterly dues. By motion the Sec. was to notify Squire Green to give all delinquents 30 days notice and if not paid by that time to bring suit. By motion Secretary was ordered to purchase new secretary books. By motion Secretary was ordered to drop all members that have never attended, and carry names of members in attendance on new book. At roll call 27 members answered to their names. Members fined for none attendance:
