PATRICK H. JEWETT***

Patrick H. Jewett was a native of Georgia and came to Indiana about the year 1849 to settle in Lexington where he practiced law, soon becoming a prominent member of the bar.

In 1854 he was elected Prosecuting Attorney for the Second Judicial District which was composed of eight counties. He made an active, energetic Prosecutor and discharged the duties of the office altogether for eight years.

As a lawyer he was resourceful and energetic and in the earlier days of his life, before ill health had impaired his vigor, he was a formidable competitor at the bar and one of the most companionable of men.
