Craigmyles of Scotland

CRAIGMILE, Craigmyle. Of local origin from Craigmile or Craigmyle in the parish of Kincardine-O'Neil, Aberdeenshire. Elspett Craigmyll found surety for her conduct in 1570 (CRA/., p. 369). Margaret Cragmyll is recorded in the parish of Strathauchin in 1593 (Brechin), Robert Craigmyll appears in record of Mekill Elrick in 1608, and Thomas Craigmyll at the Brigend of Fyvie in 1609 (RSCA., II, p. 140, 142), is probably the Thomas Craigmill admitted burgess of Aberdeen in 1597 (NSCM., I, p. 91). Andrew Craigmyle was fined 1626 for absence from the wapinschaw (SCM., v, p. 223). There was a family of Craigmile of that Ilk in Kincardine parish, Aberdeenshire, in the eighteenth century.
