VAN HOLLENBECK - Homer J., 76, a resident of Mt. Clemens, MI and Ft. Lauderdale, FL died on Saturday, November 28, 1998 in Cleveland Clinic in Ft. Lauderdale. Mr. Van Hollenbeck owned and operated H.J. VanHollenbeck Distributors Inc. in Mt. Clemens for over 40 years. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School in Mt. Clemens, attended the University of Illinois, and was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II as a lieutenant. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Mt. Clemens, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and other Civic Organizations in Mt. Clemens as well as supporting many local and other charities. He established the "Homer Van Hollenbeck Scholarship Foundation" for Macomb County High School Graduates. Each year 10 students are recipients of this scholarship to a college of their choice. He enjoyed playing golf and watching football. He is survived by a daughter, Karen Jo Butterick of Bedford, NH; two grandsons, Matthew Butterick of San Francisco, Jonathan Butterick of Bedford, NM; three sisters, Harriet Johnson of Birmingham, MI, Margaret Rastigue of Chesterfield, MI, and Rita Ann Hart of Toledo, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; and two brothers, Duane and Fred Van Hollenbeck. Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, December 7, 1998 at 11:30 AM in St. Peter Catholic Church, Mt. Clemens, with the Rev. Father Michael Cooney officiating.

Family will receive friends at the church starting at 11:00 AM until the hour of services. Private burial will be at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Clinton Twp., MI. Family suggest contributions to American Heart Association or St. Peter Catholic Church Building Fund.
