MATTIE JANE BROWN
Mattie Jane Brown, 87, died at her home 2422 Stevens at 5:00AM Sunday. She had been in failing health the past year and her condition became critical a month ago.
Mattie Jane Hollenbeck was born Oct. 13, 1868 at Windsor, MO. She was married there to David A. Brown Oct. 7, 1883. The family came to Parsons in Jan. 1904 and resided here since. Mr. Brown died in 1926. She was a member of the Four Square Church and the Royal Neighbors.
Survivors include one son, James R. Brown, Parsons, four daughters, Mrs.M. O. Laisure, Parsons; Mrs. John Roberts, Parsons; Mrs. Ted Stringer, Parsons; and Mrs. Kelly Congleton, Parsons; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-children; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son and one daughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Four Square Church, conducted by the pastor Rev. Carl Moberg. Burial will be in the family lot at Oakwood.

VETERAN KATY EMPOYEE PASSED AWAY ON MONDAY
Davis A. Brown, aged 64 years, died Monday morning at an early hour at his home, 2514 Kennedy. Mr. Brown came to Parsons from Windsor, MO., worked at the Katy shops as machinist until the Katy hospital was completed. Then he worked at the hospital as fireman until he was forced to retire on account of his health.
Beside his faithful wife he is survived by one son, Jame R. Brown; five daughters, Mrs. M O. Laisure, Mrs. John Roberts, Mrs. Fred W. Ahrens, Mrs. Ted Stringer, Mrs. Kella Congleton; nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Siddie Youngs, Elkhart, Kan.; three brothers, Stanton Brown of California, Afred and Glenn Brown of Windsor, Mo.
Mr. Brown has been a member of the Washington Avenue Methodist church and the M. W. A. ever since he has lived in Parsons.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Washington Avenue Methodist church with the Rev. W. O. Mulvaney in charge. He will be assisted by the Reverend Hovegard of Emporia, former pastor of the local church, and interment will be made in Oakwood cemetary.
