RICHARD HOLLENBECK - THURSDAY APRIL 11, 1985
Richard E. Hollenbeck, son of Ernest L. and Carrie May Miller Hollenbeck, was born April 25, 1911 at Elmwood. He attended Bushberry Rural School and graduated from Elmwood High School in 1928. He attended Peru State Teacher's College.
On Sept. 25,1932, he was married to Pearl Spangler. He farmed in the Weeping Water, Tecumseh, Dorchester and Firth communities. They moved to Lincoln in 1968, where they were caretakers of the Faith Lutheran Church until Pearl's death on August 7, 1976.
Richard belonged to IOOF Lodge, Encampment No.4 Canton No. 2 P.M., Masonic Lodge 194 of Corland: Knights of Phythias, Wilber; Knights of Korassen, Wilber; Dramatic Order of the Eastern Star and Pythian Sisters.
On Jan. 10,1983, he was married to Viola Royalty. They made their home in Georgetown, Miss., where they were active members of the Providence United Methodist Church. RICHARD DIED MARCH 4.
Besides his wife Pearl, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Max and Donald.
He is survived by his wife, Viola: sister, Mrs. Jack (Violet) Roberts of Nehawka; two brothers, Cecil of Omaha and Victor of Bellesville, Fla.
Memorial services were held March 10, at Providence United Methodist Church, Georgetown Miss. Graveside memorial services and interment was held March 29 at Lincoln Memorial Park. The Knights of Pythias and Knights of Korassen gave the first funeral oration. The Masonic Lodge No. 194 of Corland also participated. Oddfellows Lodge No.323 of Courtland read the grave eulogy.
