PINE ISLAND, Minn. -- Lyle L. Hollenbeck, 76, of Pine Island and formerly of Chester died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was born June 12, 1922, to Fred and Dora (Anderson) Hollenbeck in Rushford.

On Jan. 9, 1947, he married Evelyn Mills in Winona. They farmed in the Winona and St. Charles areas. Lyle was a farmer at heart his entire life. In 1966, they moved to Chester. He then worked at Rochester State Hospital as a janitor foreman. They moved into Pine Haven Nursing Home in Pine Island during 1997. Evelyn died July 5, 1998.

He is survived by one daughter, Shar Sawatzky of Rochester; one son, Bill (Judy) Jamieson of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Mike, Larry (Lisa) and Jenni; three great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Erin and Carly; one sister, Florence Mundt of St. Charles and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; his parents and one sister, Marion.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester with the Rev. Julie Rogness officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, St. Charles.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoff Funeral Homes-St. Charles and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

CHESTER, Minn. -- Evelyn Hollenbeck, 77, of Chester died Sunday, July 5, 1998, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester from complications of a stroke.

She was born Dec. 2, 1920, in Omaha, Neb., to Tom and Muriel Mills. Evelyn was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

She married Robert Jamieson; they later divorced. She married Lyle Hollenbeck on Jan. 9, 1947. For the past 30 years they made their home in Chester. She has lived in Pine Haven Nursing Home in Pine Island for the past year.

While in Chester, she was the president of Chester Waterboard.

Survivors include her husband of Pine Island; a son, Bill (Judy) Jamieson of Lewiston; a daughter, Shar Sawatzky of Rochester; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Don Mills of Vancouver, B.C.; and a half-sister, Florence Smith of Merritt, B.C.

Memorial services will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hoff Funeral Homes-St. Charles Chapel.

Friends may call one hour before services at the funeral home.
