Snowmobile accident claims man
A Eugene man died Saturday evening after the snowmobile he was driving failed to make a turn and struck a tree.
According to the Klamath County Sheriff's Office, 46-year-old Thomas Hollenbeck was found by members of his snowmobiling party on the Crescent Lake Loop Trail, about four miles from the Crescent Lake Lodge.
Hollenbeck, whose body was found sometime after 11:30 p.m., was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been reported missing for two to three hours.
Hollenbeck's 1998 Arctic Cat snowmobile, which suffered major damage, was found near his body. Police said Hollenbeck was not wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.
